Jim Lowther keeps bees as a litmus test, to show how well he’s getting on with his regenerative farming project. If the bees are happy, he’s got the balance right. He says “Honeybees are the canary of land management: if they are thriving it means you must also be looking after the environment well.”
This wildflower honey has been foraged from a huge variety of plant life in mid-Summer 2024, in the rolling Bampton Valley. This summer was very wet but the bees managed to forage in the fleeting dry gaps. They sourced their nectar from species including Field Beans, Willowherb and Thistle.
This has given this honey a strong vibrant flavour, which tastes of perseverance against adversity!
